My commute takes me over the railroad overpass you see above. I have noticed that there is quite a bit of heat coming from the road.
Any ideas why?

I would guess because it is not insulated by the earth. Same reason that overpass ices up with the slight est amount of snow.
I never thought of that. Makes sense to me.
